As an area that's known for being edgy and progressive, we naturally enjoy serving up unexpected surprises for visitors who aren't afraid to follow their curiosity.

Get the Lay of the Land
Agritourism is a thing. And there’s no better place to experience it than Orange County. From our many farmers' markets to our farm-to-table restaurants to the annual Piedmont Farm Tour, we are dedicated to helping visitors connect with the people and places their food comes from.

Take a (de)Tour
Sure, we have your typical guided tours. But we also have tours of a different kind. Try a two-hour Haunted Hillsborough tour to discover some of the area’s greatest mysteries, enjoy a self-guided walking tour of Chapel Hill and Carrboro’s colorful murals, or take a self-guided tour of one of the largest natural botanical gardens in the Southeast, the North Carolina Botanical Garden.

Feel Like a Kid Again
There’s nothing like stilt walkers and 20-foot-tall puppets to make a grown person feel small—in the best kind of way. Every summer for the past two decades, Paperhand Puppet Intervention has dazzled audiences of all ages with its one-of-a-kind creations in performances that celebrate art, activism, and the human spirit. Runs August – September at the Forest Theatre.
