Thankfully, there aren’t many months here when outdoor dining is off limits. Grab lunch or dinner at Weaver Street Market—a popular choice among locals—and eat on the lawn. For dessert, try an ice cream cone at Maple View Farm Country Store in Hillsborough, where you can sit on the front porch and watch the sun set over the fields.

Find Your Rhythm
From spring to fall, outdoor concerts are plentiful. The Carolina Inn’s Fridays on the Front Porch series features live music on the lawn of this charming historic hotel. A Sunday Concert on the Village Green in Southern Village is another great place to hear local and regional bands. Both are free, with food and adult beverages available. But BYOB (bring your own blanket) or chairs.

Get Away from It All
Spend an afternoon lounging at The Honeysuckle Tea House in Chapel Hill. Built on shipping containers and other repurposed materials, this open-air farm stand is surrounded by 225 acres of farmland, including the blueberry patches and herb gardens where many of the Tea House’s offerings are grown.
