Person Entering the Welcome Center Front Door

Our Welcome Center is open and many of our businesses are operating as usual. However some of natural areas, attractions and our businesses did suffer damage during Tropical Storm Chantal, particulary in the Eastgate Shopping Center and University Place. Before visiting any business, greenways and attractions, we encourage you to contact them directly or check their social media pages first.

Outdoors & nature

Rolling hills, winding paths, beautiful gardens, nature preserves, and hiking & biking trails not only make up the landscape surrounding the towns and university but also within. The Town of Chapel Hill provides over 17 miles of urban greenways and trails. A local favorite, the Riverwalk in downtown Hillsborough, follows alongside the Eno River. And within the community of Carrboro is a 55-acre park for a variety of leisure experiences. The North Carolina Botanical Garden invites visitors for a stroll through native plant display gardens. So, breathe deep, and let curiosity lead you down the open road to Chapel Hill & Orange County.
