Person Entering the Welcome Center Front Door

Our Welcome Center is open and many of our businesses are operating as usual. However some of natural areas, attractions and our businesses did suffer damage during Tropical Storm Chantal, particulary in the Eastgate Shopping Center and University Place. Before visiting any business, greenways and attractions, we encourage you to contact them directly or check their social media pages first.

Farm to Table in Orange County

From city to farm

Just a short drive from Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh is an abundance of small farms and markets that are open to visitors. From u-pick farms for strawberries, blueberries, and flowers, to farm stands for produce to farmers markets for fresh baked goods, seasonal products and local makers.

If you're in the mood to have fresh ingredients and a great dining experience, we have plenty of restaurants that frequent the farms and markets for their daily menu offerings.

And just a reminder, safety first. Our farms are serious about keeping you safe, so please be prepared to practice safety protocols they have in place when you arrive.

Meet the farmer and the chef

Many of our chefs are committed to serving our locals and visitors with the finest and freshest ingredients available locally.

Check out the three videos highlighting the close farm to restaurant relationship between Elysian Fields Farm & Pizzeria Mercato in Carrboro; Minka Farms & Vimala's Curryblossom Cafe in Chapel Hill and South Wind Produce & Panciuto (now Hillsborough Bakeshop & Pasta Co.) in Hillsborough.
