Chapel Hill, NC – (September 20, 2019) - The Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau recently won two 2019 marketing achievement awards from the North Carolina Travel Industry Association (NCTIA) for its efforts to market the county as a visitor destination.
The Visitors Bureau won a Gold Award in the Leisure Marketing category for the Taste of the South magazine July-August 2018 story, “Where the Locals Love to Eat,” highlighting Chapel Hill’s Dining Scene. The story was written by Nancy Floyd with photography by Jen McDonald. The Visitors Bureau assisted in their visit to the area for the feature. The Bureau also won a Gold Award in the Meetings and Conventions Marketing category for the first-time FAM Tour for Independent Meeting Planners coordinated by the bureau’s sales department.
Additionally, Chapel Hill’s Scott Maitland, Proprietor of Top of the Hill was honored with the NCTIA Tourism Excellence Award for Business. This award recognizes outstanding contributions to the development of the Travel Industry in North Carolina. The Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau nominated Maitland for his role in the hospitality and tourism industry and his championing the Brunch Bill legislation and his work on ABC reform legislation.
The NCTIA leadership conference and awards banquet was held on September 12 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Charlotte-Concord Golf Resort & Spa in Concord, NC.
The Marketing Achievement Awards were created to honor and showcase the best in marketing efforts by convention and visitors bureaus throughout the state. The CVB pays no fees to submit award entries for the competition. The Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau competed in the medium-sized bureaus category.
