The LIGHTUP Lantern Festival is coming! The festival is hosted by the Chinese School at Chapel Hill to celebrate cultural diversity and the Chinese New Year. The festival will feature lantern decorating with local artists, highly interactive art and craft creations, a dragon dance workshop, Peking Opera, a Chinese orchestra and other live performances, old fashioned Chines games and authentic Chinese foods throughout the day. The climax of the festival occurs at dusk with a lantern light-up and a parade. The first Chapel Hill LIGHTUP Lantern Festival will be held from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 28, 2017 at University Place.

Skywatching with Morehead Planetarium every month. Morehead educators and CHAOS (Chapel Hill Astronomical & Observational Society) members bring telescopes and guide you through fun observations of stars, planets, moons, nebulae and other celestial objects. You might event see a few meteors!

Attend performances at Memorial Hall and PlayMakers Repertory Co.

Tour the Carolina Basketball Museum and Ackland Art Museum.

Second Friday ArtWalk is a great way to experience the local art and music scene.
