Carolina Basketball Museum Information

CHAPEL HILL—The Carolina Basketball Museum, which is located in the Dean E. Smith Center complex and celebrates the rich history of the University of North Carolina men's basketball program, re-opened on June 1, 2021, after closing temporarily due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Masks are required for entrance to the museum at this time.

The museum, located on the ground floor of the Ernie Williamson Athletic Center at 450 Skipper Bowles Drive, has been closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic since March 2020.

Patrons are encouraged to follow proper social distancing guidelines; hand sanitizing stations are available at several locations. Parking is in the Williamson Lot across the street from the Smith Center.

Groups of 25 or more are asked to call 919-962-6000 in advance.

Monday – Friday, 10 A.M. – 4 P.M.
Saturday, 9 A.M. – 1 P.M.
Sunday, Closed

Notes:
· Friday, December 24, 2021 – Tuesday, December 28, 2021 – Museum Closed for Holidays
· Wednesday, December 29, 2021 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Men's Basketball vs. Virginia Tech at 7:00 p.m.)
· Thursday, December 30, 2021 – Sunday, January 2, 2022 – Museum Closed for New Years


The museum opened in 2008, underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2017 and includes numerous new artifacts, including the ball Luke Maye shot to beat Kentucky in the 2017 NCAA Elite Eight en route to UNC's sixth NCAA title, the shoes Roy Williams wore in the final coaching win of his Hall of Fame career and updated historical panels and video to illustrate the hiring of Hubert Davis as the newest Tar Heel head coach.
