Day-long events - Going Green - March 21, 2018 from Noon-1pm, - This Lunch and Learn will cover how communities can help reduce flooding and filter urban stormwater runoff. Join Kimberly Brewer and stormwater engineers to learn more about Green Infrastructure or Low Impact Development such as bioswales, green roofs, bioretention basins and rain gardens, permeable pavements and water harvesting often used in new development and stormwater retrofits. Film Screening: STRAWS 7-9pm - This short (33 minute) film takes viewers on a journey around the world, onto beaches and into the ocean where single use straws and other plastics pose severe threats to life throughout the food chain. Learn how individuals, business owners and leaders can make a world of difference. Following the film will be a presentation by local environmental activist Fran DiGiano, cofounder of Clean Jordan Lake and Professor Emeritus, Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at UNC-Chapel Hill.
