VOICES, the Chapel Hill Chorus, is pleased to announce the first concert of its 36th Season. Cantari, the Voices Ensemble, will be performing the program "1685 was a very good year! Bach and Handel". The concert features works by J.S. Bach (1685-1750) and George Frideric Handel (1685-1759). The performance opens with Handel’s “Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened,” Coronation Anthem #2, HWV259, followed by Handels’ powerful “O Come, Let Us Sing Unto The Lord,” Chandos Anthem #8, HWV253, and closes with Bach’s celebratory “Der Herr denket an uns,” Cantata for Wedding, BWV 196. The singers will be joined by strings, oboes, recorders and continuo players.
