Celebrate the culture, cuisine, and literature of the African Diaspora! This special event features readings related to or written by descendants of the African Diaspora read by members of the church community and special guests. United Church of Chapel Hill (UCCH) invites you to a special event celebrating Black culture! Members and special guests will read a passage or poem from one of their favorite Black writers. Special guest readers include Aaron Keck (WCHL 97.9 Radio Host), Lydia Lavelle (UCCH member and Carrboro Mayor), Laurie Paolicelli (Director of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Visitors Center), Anna Richards (president of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP), Latarndra Strong (Hate-Free Schools Coalition), and Ted Shaw (UNC Distinguished Law professor and Director of the UNC Center for Civil Rights). UCCH is a member congregation of the United Church of Christ (UCC), a distinct and diverse community of Christians that come together as one church to join faith and action.
