Outlandish Hillsborough will celebrate North Carolina's Scottish roots with activities centered around Scottish heritage, culture, and the widely popular Outlander series.  Walking tours, movie night, Scottish & Colonial food tastings, Scottish and Colonial exhibits, historic programs and lively discussions will abound throughout Hillsborough. Local merchants, artists, restaurants, bars, businesses, and historic sites will participate.
A two-day Fèis will take place on October 12 and 13 on the beautiful grounds at Ayr Mount, an 1815 house built by Ayr, Scotland native William Kirkland.

Cèilidh Ayr honors Scottish Heritage and Culture in a nod to the Kirkland Family that built the historic home of Ayr Mount named in honor of William Kirkland’s birthplace: Ayr, Scotland. It will celebrate Scotland through Pipes and Drums, Celtic music, Scottish Country Dancing, demonstrations, storytelling, history talks and walks, Scottish and Celtic goods in the Marketplace, a Wee Bairns craft and play area, Scottish food, fish & chips, ales and brews. And Irn Bru. Kilts and tartans will abound for a bonnie time.

Outlander Ayr will Cèilidh On whith Scottish music, heritage and history while adding fun layers from the Outlander series when the main characters lived in colonial North Carolina. "Step through the Stones" to experience colonial food and lifestyle demonstrations, reenactors, readings, dancing, photo booth,  and much more. Come in costume of your favorite character - or not - but come join in the fun.
