What: 2009 Hillsborough Gingerbread House Competition

The competition is open to anyone who wishes to participate. There will be first and second place prizes awarded in three categories (Adult professional, adult amateur and youth (ages 5 to 15). Prizes include cash, tickets to the 23rd annual Historic Hillsborough Candlelight Tour on December 6, Gift Cards and riding in the Hillsborough Christmas Parade on Dec. 5 . The entries will be judged in four categories (overall appearance, originality/creativity, difficulty and precision.)

When: Entry forms must be submitted to the Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce via fax at 919-732-4566 or mail to the chamber office at 102 N. Churton St. Hillsborough, NC 27278 no later than Friday, November 20. You may download an entry form from http://www.candlelighttour.com or call the chamber at 919-732-8156. The competition is limited to the first 30 entries, so get your entry forms in as soon as possible to qualify for the contest. Entries are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Gingerbread House Contest entries must be delivered to the Burwell School Historic Site at 319 N. Churton Street, Hillsborough on Friday, December 4 between 5:30 and 6:30 pm.

Where: The gingerbread contest judging will take place at the Burwell School on December 4 at 7 pm. The entries will remain on display through the 23rd Annual Historic Hillsborough Candlelight Tour on Sunday, December 6 .
