What I Love About Orange County

November 14 2008 by Dale Chodorow

I discovered Chapel Hill in the late 1960s when I came down here to UNC for graduate school in journalism. It was so green and quaint and accessible. It didn't not have the ethnic diversity of Buffalo or Pittsburgh where I grew up and went to college, but it was just pleasant living here. After marrying a Chapel Hillian and earning my master’s degree, she and I went off to develop our careers in New York City and Indianapolis. After many years there, we both yearned to get back here for the same qualities that impressed me in the first place. But, lo and behold, when we got back, Chapel Hill had adopted many of the best qualities of those big cities. So, now, we have the best of both worlds here.
