Formerly a bait-and-tackle shop, Johnny’s has been given a face lift by the new owner. The back room is a quirky convenience store and coffee shop serving quick-drip coffee, pastries, cheeses and more. Some specialties are “imported” from other restaurants and stores in the Chapel Hill-Durham area, and there are some tables outside to enjoy them in the fresh air. The store retains a retro vibe, with worn wooden floorboards and vintage Sunbeam bread signs.

A hybrid restaurant, cafe and bar, according to owner Michael Watring. In the morning, it functions as a cafe, with coffee from the Carrboro Coffee Company; during the day, it offers lunch and dinner; and at 10 p.m. it morphs into a bar, serving food until 2 a.m. All booths have electric outlets and Internet connections for laptop computers. The Recovery Room replaces the former Hector’s, but the latter’s bar stools are still at the East End Martini Bar on one side and the booths are at Zog’s Pool and PT’s Olde Fashion Grille on the other side.
