Triangle Jazz Orchestra Night Concert - CANCELLED
If you've ever walked in The ArtsCenter on a Wednesday night you've heard an awesome 17-piece band rehearsing in the Earl & Rhonda Wynn Theater. They're the Triangle Jazz Orchestra, now opening rehearsals the first Wednesday of each month to listeners and swing dancers alike. The Orchestra is composed of enthusiatic musicians from across the Triangle. They love and play the legendary music Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, and Duke Ellington, as well as more recent jazz and blues tunes. www.trainglejazzorchestra.com.

Nature Tales: Storytime in the Garden

Orange County Main Library Dedicates Sculpture & Local History Collection
The Rebecca B. Wall Local History Collection and the Wayne Trapp sculpture, 'Embrace the Moment' will be dedicated at a joint ceremony at the Orange County Main Library. The public is invited. These dedications coincide with the library's 100th anniversary celebration, which includes a special exhibit on the history of the library at the Orange County Museum, 201 N Churton St.

ISLANDS UNKNOWN To See & Imagine the Hidden Parts of the World...in 3D! Join Paperhand Puppet Intervention this year for an odyssey epic that will take you to the depths of the imagination and the very ends of the earth. Their hero, a wandering young girl, finds herself in a mysterious library that is being consumed by a rising sea of information. Soon she is afloat, on a paper boat, with a goat heading toward an adventure full of animals and beasts, mustachioed men and pirates, monsters, furies, and even gods.
Don't miss this 11th annual giant summer puppet production featuring Giant puppets, masks, stilts, painted cardboard, and shadows all set to live music! All shows are for all ages and start at 7 pm with a different pre-show each ight at 6:20 pm. General admission, no advanced ticket sales. Suggested donation $12 adults, $8 ages 4-14, 3 and under free.

Express Yourself with Art on Saturday!
Artist of the month for August is Niki de Saint-Phalle. Program is held 10:30-11:15am every Saturday for kids ages 3-8 years old and their caregivers. This month we will be building a sculpure to display at Kidzu. Each week we will do a different part of the construction. Aug 7: Building the skeleton frame; Aug 14: Paper mache; Aug 21: Paint the sculpture; Aug 28: Adding mosaic touches. Cost: $2 per child. Space is limited. Same day registration is usually possible.
