In collaboration with local, award-winning architect Fred Stewart, the Orange County Historical Museum (OCHM) is pleased to present a temporary exhibit on historical architecture and restoration in Hillsborough – “A Sense of Place” – opening May 15th. The exhibit explores the histories behind a number of structures, such as the Methodist Church, Masonic Hall, Saint Matthew’s Episcopal Church, and the Colonial Inn. The exhibit also highlights a few of the architects, builders, and designers responsible for Hillsborough’s classical look and most recognizable homes and buildings.
“A Sense of Place” runs through August 15th. The Orange County Historical Museum is located at 201 N. Churton Street. Hours Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-4pm, Sunday 1-4pm.
In collaboration with “A Sense of Place” at the Orange County Historical Museum, Architect Fred Stewart will give a presentation on his restoration and design processes including some of his work on historic homes in Hillsborough. The talk will be held at the Masonic Lodge at 142 West King Street at 2:00 pm on June 10, and will be followed by a house tour to showcase some of Mr. Stewart’s work.
Tickets for the event are on sale now at the Museum or can be reserved until June 9at the Museum or by phone at (919) 723-2201. Pre-ordered and reserved tickets are $20 and tickets at the door will be $25. Refreshments will be provided.
