During the holidays Orange County offers wonderful events and attractions for visitors. Downtown Chapel Hill is one place that comes alive with holiday events, sales at unique boutique stores, musical celebrations and movies at the historic Varsity Theatre. There’s something for everyone, from the athletic fan to visiting friends and family. Our downtown is special and December is the time to enjoy coffee shops, gelato and ice cream, the annual holiday parade and all the splendor of the season. In the month of December, Saturday Parking is free downtown! This includes all public lots and metered spaces. And parking is always free on Sundays.
