Join the Orange County Historical Museum on Saturday, November 26 for their annual storytelling Event – Home for the Holidays. John Claude Bemis, Stephen Demorest, Allan Gurganus, and Jill McCorkle will be at Leland Little Auction & Estate Sales, 620 Cornerstone Court, Hillsborough. Daniel Wallace will host as MC for the event.

Come to Chapel Hill’s Community Tree Lighting Ceremony in the Memorial Garden of University Baptist Church; 100 S. Columbia Street, in downtown on Sunday, November 27 at 6PM (Sunday after Thanksgiving). Enjoy caroling by the church choir and Mayor Mark Kleinschmidt will be the guest tree lighter. Bring your camera – children can meet Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus and have their pictures taken! Parking is FREE downtown on Sundays in all municipal lots and on-street meters. Meanwhile, in addition to FREE parking downtown on Sundays, visitors to downtown this holiday season can enjoy FREE parking on Saturdays as well! The Town of Chapel Hill will be offering downtown patrons and visitors FREE parking on Saturdays in December (3, 10, 17, & 24) at all municipal lots, the Wallace Parking Deck, and at on-street meters. Kidzu Children’s Museum will open to the public on November 18. The grand opening celebration weekend is Friday November 18th through Sunday, November 20th! Hours are – Friday, November 18 (10am-5pm); Saturday, November 19 (10am-5pm) and Sunday, November 20 (1-5pm). Admission will continue to be free on Sundays, thanks to the continued generous support of Durham Regional Hospital.
Normal Hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday 1 pm – 5 pm. Kidzu is closed on Mondays. Admission – $5 per person for adults; $5 per child over 24 months of age; $2 per child from 12-23 months; Members and children 11 months and under are admitted free. Sundays free admission for all.
The new site at 123 – B West Franklin Street in University Square will serve as their interim location as they make preparations for the future, much larger facility at Wallace Plaza. Their new home will continue to offer some of your favorite interactive exhibits along with lots of new fun and educational programming and some FREE parking.
Kidzu Children’s Museum is a nonprofit 501 ©(3) organization offering playful, hands-on learning experiences for children aged 0-8 years. The Annual Carrboro Film Festival features nearly 30 films divided into three blocks with breaks in between. Doors open at 12:30 pm at the Carrboro Century Center at 100 N. Greensboro Street with a welcome from Carrboro Film Producer and Editor Nic Beery at 1:15 pm, followed by Celebration and history of Carrboro, the first 100 years, by Jackie Helvey and Margot Lester. The films begin at 1:30 pm ending with an awards presentation at 7:10 pm.
